Hi, I’m Sammy, the founder of Be My Grandparent. I’m 38 years old and live with my large but lovable English Bulldog, Sonny. I am from North Wales and have lived in Jersey since 2008. 

I have seen first-hand how crippling loneliness can be for our elderly generation within the community or within care settings, having worked in care homes for 2 years, as a Police Officer for 9, before moving to become a Police Coroner’s Officer in 2022.

My grandparents live in North Wales. I’m sure lots of people are in the same position as me—having no grandparents on the island, meaning they don’t have that older person to look up to, spend time with, or ask advice from. Our elderly generation has lived interesting and fulfilling lives, and who better to talk through your week with?
